Make Slime with Kids - A Fun and Easy DIY Concoction

Ooey gooey fun!

Making slime is an entertaining activity for kids that combines fun and a bit of science. With just a few simple ingredients you can create various types of slime that kids love to stretch, squish, and mold. Here's a quick guide on how to make slime with your kids.

What You Will Need:

  • 1/2 cup White School Glue
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 tablespoon Contact Lens Solution (it contains Boric Acid)
  • Food Coloring (optional)
  • Glitter, Small Beads, or other Mix-Ins (optional, but fun)

What You Do:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the white school glue and water. Stir until the glue is fully diluted in the water.
  2. Add the baking soda to the glue mixture and stir well.
Baking soda helps to firm up the slime.
  3. Gradually add the contact lens solution while stirring. The slime will start to form and come away from the sides of the bowl.
If the slime is too sticky, add a little more contact lens solution until it reaches the desired consistency.
  4. Once the slime starts to form, use your hands to knead it. This helps make the slime smooth and stretchy.
If the slime is too sticky, you can add a few more drops of contact lens solution.
  5. Include any add-ins while you continue to knead them into the slime.
  6. Store the slime in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag to keep it fresh and to prevent it from drying out.

Additional Notes:

  • Slime can be messy. Make sure to protect your work surface and clean up promptly to avoid any stains or residue.
  • Always supervise young children while making and playing with slime to ensure they don't ingest any of the ingredients.
