Ooey gooey fun!
Making slime is an entertaining activity for kids that combines fun and a bit of science. With just a few simple ingredients you can create various types of slime that kids love to stretch, squish, and mold. Here's a quick guide on how to make slime with your kids.
What You Will Need:
- 1/2 cup White School Glue
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 tablespoon Contact Lens Solution (it contains Boric Acid)
- Food Coloring (optional)
- Glitter, Small Beads, or other Mix-Ins (optional, but fun)
What You Do:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the white school glue and water. Stir until the glue is fully diluted in the water.
- Add the baking soda to the glue mixture and stir well.
Baking soda helps to firm up the slime. - Gradually add the contact lens solution while stirring. The slime will start to form and come away from the sides of the bowl.
If the slime is too sticky, add a little more contact lens solution until it reaches the desired consistency. - Once the slime starts to form, use your hands to knead it. This helps make the slime smooth and stretchy.
If the slime is too sticky, you can add a few more drops of contact lens solution. - Include any add-ins while you continue to knead them into the slime.
- Store the slime in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag to keep it fresh and to prevent it from drying out.
Additional Notes:
- Slime can be messy. Make sure to protect your work surface and clean up promptly to avoid any stains or residue.
- Always supervise young children while making and playing with slime to ensure they don't ingest any of the ingredients.
