Halloween Shrink Art

Halloween Shrink Art

Halloween is the perfect time to get creative with fun and festive crafts. Making Halloween shrink art is easy and enjoyable for all ages. It only takes a few materials - and you can create spooky, shrunken-down decorations, keychains, or jewelry that capture the spirit of the season.

What You Will Need:

  • Printed Templates (see below)
  • Polyshrink Paper
  • Pencil
  • Permanent Markers or Colored Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch (optional, for keychains or jewelry)
  • Parchment Paper or Aluminum Foil
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven or Toaster Oven

What You Do:

  1. Draw your designs onto shrink paper. Place a piece of Polyshrink film over the printed templates below, and use a pencil to trace the patterns onto the shrink film.
  2. Color your art! Use permanent markers or colored pencils to color in your designs.
TIP: The colors will become more vibrant as the plastic shrinks, so don't be afraid to go bold.
  3. Carefully cut out your designs using a scissors. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the design if you're making a keychain or jewelry.
  4. Bake to shrink the film. Preheat your oven to the temperature recommended on your shrink film (usually around 325 degree F). Place your designs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil, and bake for 2-3 minutes. Watch as the plastic curls up and then flattens out. Once flat, remove them from the oven and let them cool.
  5. After your shrink art cools, you can attach keyrings, jump rings, or string to make necklaces, earrings, ornaments, or gift tags.
